RA collects Monarch
caterpillars and places on
local milkweed
The monarch butterflies are making their migration
north. They laid several eggs on our tropical milkweed,
and hatched many hungry caterpillars, way more than
what we had food for! We sent some to St. Anthony
Catholic School and Comfort Elementary School for
the kids to care for and watch their metamorphosis.
The rest were relocated with the help of Cathy Downs
to the native milkweed she grows. Now these hungry
caterpillars will have plenty of food and will be able to
continue their life cycle. For more information on
Monarch butterflies go to www.monarchwatch.org.

Wildflowers are all over
the property
Every year we watch the wildflowers pop up all around
us. Bluebonnets, prairie verbena, poppies, antelope
horns are just a few. These wildflowers are not only
beautiful but also colorful and help attract bees.
Wildflowers greatly help the bee population in the
state. They are also great nectar plants for butterflies.
